About POWERTECH

POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

Position Overview
Powertech’s Technology Development Team is seeking an Advanced Fluid Simulation Engineer-I to support the development of advanced propulsion systems for military applications. This role focuses on high-fidelity numerical simulation of combustion aerodynamics and turbomachinery, spanning low-speed to high-speed flow regimes. The position supports early-stage technology development (TRL 1–7), from fundamental research through subsystem and prototype demonstration.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in steady and unsteady CFD, Large Eddy Simulation (LES), and multiphysics analysis, contributing to the design and optimization of next-generation propulsion components.

Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced CFD simulations for combustion aerodynamics and turbomachinery across low-speed and high-speed regimes
Conduct steady and unsteady flow analyses, including Large Eddy Simulation (LES)
Execute complex simulations using STAR-CCM+ and ANSYS FLUENT
Perform thermoacoustic analyses and assess combustion instability risks
Conduct conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analyses for propulsion and turbomachinery components
Apply numerical design tools for aerodynamic and turbomachinery analysis and optimization
Develop and apply data-driven and reduced-order modeling techniques to enhance simulation efficiency and design insight
Support propulsion technology development from TRL 1 through TRL 7
Validate simulation results using experimental data and support test planning where required
Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including combustion, structures, materials, and systems engineering

Required Qualifications

PhD or MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
2–5 years of relevant industry or research experience in CFD, combustion, or turbomachinery simulation

Strong experience with complex CFD calculations, including steady and unsteady flows
Hands-on experience with LES modeling, including setup, execution, and post-processing
Proficiency in STAR-CCM+ and ANSYS FLUENT
Experience performing thermoacoustics and conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analyses
Solid understanding of combustion aerodynamics and turbomachinery physics
Strong analytical, documentation, and technical communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with propulsion systems for military or defense applications
Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) environments
Experience applying data-based or machine-learning-assisted simulation techniques
Background in low-TRL technology maturation and prototype development
