About POWERTECH
POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Aero Engine Fuel Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of next-generation fuel and hybrid propulsion systems for turbojet, microjet, and turbofan engines. This role spans early-stage research (low-TRL) through TRL 7 demonstrators, providing the opportunity to work on advanced fuel architectures, engine integration, and digital control systems for current and future high-speed and adaptive-cycle engine concepts.
The successful candidate will combine hands-on engineering expertise, system-level thinking, and digital fuel control knowledge to deliver innovative fuel solutions that enhance engine performance, efficiency, reliability, and multi-fuel operability, supporting both today’s platforms and the propulsion technologies of tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, design, and integration of advanced aero-engine fuel systems across turbojet, microjet, and turbofan engines, including pumps, valves, metering units, injectors, and manifolds.
- Develop 1D fuel system network models and perform transient analysis using Siemens AMESim and Flomaster, ensuring robust fuel delivery across all operating conditions.
- Conduct CFD analysis of internal flows, pressure losses, cavitation, thermal management, and component-level optimization.
- Collaborate with FADEC / Engine ECU teams to define fuel scheduling, start/relight logic, transient response, and fault management strategies.
- Support adaptive, predictive, and learning-based fuel control algorithms to enhance efficiency, combustion stability, and emissions performance.
- Enable multi-fuel and alternative fuel capabilities, including SAF, synthetic fuels, and hydrogen blends.
- Support Gas turbine, hybrid-electric and advanced high-speed propulsion system integration, evaluating fuel-energy interactions, thermal management, and control coordination.
- Collaborate closely with combustion, controls, mechanical, thermal, and test teams to ensure integrated engine performance and operability.
- Lead component and engine-level testing, model correlation, and digital twin development to validate design and predictive capability.
- Contribute to future-focused fuel system technologies for high-speed, adaptive-cycle, and advanced military engine concepts.
Education
- Master’s, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
Experience & Requirements
- 8+ years in aero-engine fuel system or propulsion system development, ideally including turbojet, microjet, or turbofan programs.
- Proven experience in low-TRL R&D, system integration, and demonstrator engine programs up to TRL 7.
- Hands-on expertise in 1D fuel system modeling, transient analysis, and CFD.
- Familiarity with FADEC / Engine ECU development, fuel scheduling, start/relight logic, and fault management.
- Experience with multi-fuel operation, alternative fuels, and hybrid propulsion concepts.
- Proficiency in Siemens AMESim, Siemens Flomaster, MATLAB/Simulink, CFD tools, and Python.
- Strong understanding of aerospace standards, certification, and safety practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams and global suppliers.
