ABOUT THE ROLE

ADVANCED CONCEPTS is an entity within EDGE dedicated to the design and deployment of advanced, innovative technologies. ADVANCED CONCEPTS is fast-tracking the development of high-technology autonomous systems, including three Medium Endurance, High Altitude, fixed-wing unmanned aerial systems, a family of precision loitering munitions, a cost- effective family of cruise missiles, and a range of guided artillery munitions.

 

This role is responsible for supporting field testing activities, conducting inspections and tests, collecting and recording accurate test data, and ensuring compliance with established quality and safety standards. The role involves coordinating with field teams, identifying and reporting issues, maintaining proper documentation, and supporting troubleshooting and corrective actions. The Associate also assists in preparing test reports and contributes to continuous improvement of field testing processes. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, coordinate, and organize field testing schedules for defence equipment and systems.
  • Develop and implement safety plans, risk assessments, and hazard mitigation measures for testing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with defence safety regulations, military standards, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Conduct pre-test safety briefings and ensure all personnel understand operational procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, logistics, and military stakeholders to prepare test sites and required resources.
  • Inspect testing locations, equipment, vehicles, and support facilities to verify operational readiness.
  • Monitor field testing operations to ensure adherence to approved safety procedures.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain documentation including test plans, safety records, permits, inspection reports, and regulatory compliance records.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures during field trials and testing exercises.
  • Ensure proper handling, transportation, and storage of hazardous materials, explosives, ammunition, or classified equipment where applicable.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, military customers, and internal departments regarding testing and safety matters.
  • Support certification, qualification, and acceptance testing of defence products.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, safety performance, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits and inspections of testing facilities and equipment.
  • Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees and contractors participating in field activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Military Science, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in defence, aerospace, military, manufacturing, or industrial safety.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and defence safety standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience in field testing, project coordination, or operational testing.
  • Professional safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) are advantageous
