We are looking for a professional Buyer 1.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Buyer 1 to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in sourcing and procuring key materials to support the production of missiles and weapons. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, this role is responsible for executing the Commodity strategy, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality materials. The Buyer I will work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to manage the procure-to-pay process, implement sourcing initiatives, and contribute to the overall success of the Commodity. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive procurement professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to optimizing supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Purchase Order Placement & Management:
  • Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with company processes and agreed terms.
  • Ensure timely ordering to meet project schedules and avoid supply disruptions.
  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm order acceptance, delivery dates, and resolve order queries.
  • Maintain accurate order data in SAP and support reporting requirements

 

  1. Supplier Communication & Support:
  • Act as a first-line contact for day-to-day supplier interactions under the guidance of the Senior Buyer.
  • Follow up on open orders, expedite where necessary, and communicate delivery updates to stakeholders.
  • Support the collection and collation of supplier documentation, including CoCs, RoHS/REACH declarations, and compliance certificates.

 

  1. Procurement Process & Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, ethical sourcing principles, and delegated authority limits.
  • Support the execution of RFQs (Request for Quotations) and assist in the evaluation of supplier responses.
  • Maintain clean procurement records and ensure audit readiness of transactions.

 

  1. Cost, Quality & Delivery Monitoring:
  • Monitor supplier performance with respect to delivery, lead time, and quality, escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Support the Senior Buyer in gathering data for supplier performance reviews and reporting.
  • Identify and flag cost-saving opportunities or inefficiencies within transactional buying activities.

 

  1. Internal Stakeholder Support:
  • Work closely with internal teams including Planning, Stores, Quality, and Engineering to ensure material availability.
  • Respond promptly to material availability queries and support production readiness.
  • Participate in procurement team meetings and contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  1. Data & Systems Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date SAP records for purchase orders, vendor data, and part information.
  • Support data cleansing activities and help improve system-driven procurement processes.
  • Assist with the preparation of basic procurement reports or KPIs as required by the Senior Buyer.

 

  1. Development & Continuous Improvement:
  • Take ownership of personal development goals in line with CIPS core competencies.
  • Participate in training and development activities to build commercial awareness and procurement capability.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improving efficiency or reducing waste in day-to-day procurement tasks.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of experience in P2P Procurement and Supply Chain in the Defense, Aerospace or Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Preferred Experience: 2 years of experience in P2P Procurement and Supply Chain in the Defense, Aerospace or Oil and Gas Industry
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail in pricing, quantities, and lead times.
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to raise and manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve routine supply issues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Awareness of basic negotiation principles and willingness to support or learn commercial discussions.
  • A working commercial and technical knowledge of metallics commodities (e.g. Aluminium & Stainless Steel).
  • Experience with working with top tier Mechanical and Raw Material manufacturers including distributors.
  • Experience and knowledge with working with Suppliers across the globe.
  • Experience in working in a Commodity environment.
