POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

 

Position Summary: The Senior Turbofan Propulsion System CFD Engineer is responsible for performing Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis to support the aerodynamics and aerothermal design of turbofan engine components and systems. The role contributes to the development, optimization and validation of flowpath performance from inlet to exhaust including compressor, combustor, turbine and secondary air systems. The position supports design decisions, performance prediction and risk reduction throughout the engine development lifecycle, from conceptual design to engine testing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize the turbofan components, modules and sub-systems on a CFD perspective (inlet, fan, booster, HPC, combustor, HPT/LPT…)
  • Analyze flow behavior, losses, efficiency and stability margins
  • Support aerodynamic design iterations through CFD-driven analysis
  • Carry out Whole Integrated System analysis (platform/engine)
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis, and Evaluate impact of design changes on performance, operability and thermal margins, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, surge margin, pressure ratio, cooling effectiveness
  • Support the development / set-up methodologies and chain of software, from scratch, including automated computational analysis/reports. Support the management of knowledge
  • Review the designs, simulations and support testing activities (test correlation)
  • Participate to technical review and produce technical reports
  • Identify project risks and plan for mitigation

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Aerospace engineering, Turbomachinery, Fluid Dynamics (turbulence, multiphase flows, boundary layer behavior)
  • Experience in compressor and turbine modules, multidisciplinary optimization
  • Fluent in English
  • 5+ years or more for senior roles

 

Skills

  • Proficient in one of CFD tools such as Fluent, Star-CCM+, Open foam…
  • Familiarity with meshing tools (ICEM, Turbogrid…), Python/Matlab and HPC computing environments
  • Awareness on the state-of-the-art technologies including AI-assisted design methods
  • Good communication and presentation skills to interact with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to solve problems, prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary
