We are looking for a Commodity Manager – Electronics & PCB. Commodity sources and manufactures a portfolio of missiles and weapons and is responsible for getting the right materials to the right place at the right time to support the end Customer. There is a shared responsibility for developing and rolling out the execution of the Commodity strategy for the Electronics & PCB Commodity. This role will oversee a team of Supply Chain professionals focused on strategic sourcing, establishing long-term framework agreements and ensuring alignment with the company's goals and programs plans. This role is ideal for a strategically minded and results-oriented procurement professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to driving excellence within the Commodity.
Key Accountabilities:
Commodity Strategy Development:
a. Lead on some elements and support the development and implementation of comprehensive commodity strategy that drive value creation, cost savings and risk mitigation.
b. Monitor and analyses the commodity markets, global economic conditions, supplier landscapes, and industry benchmarks to inform strategy and decision-making.
c. Awareness and implementation of Commodity tools and process to create a robust strategy to support the dynamic landscape of the Organization.
d. Turn strategy into operational reality and drive results.
Team Leadership and Development:
a. Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Supply Chain professionals focused on strategic sourcing, commodity management & the P2P process.
b. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages continuous improvement and professional growth.
c. Support the Senior Manager & Director with wider business initiatives.
d. Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors.
Strategic Sourcing and Execution:
a. Oversee the end-to-end strategic sourcing process, including supplier selection, RFx process, contract negotiation and establishing strategic framework agreements for Direct Commodities requirements.
b. Ensure that all procurement activities align with the programs plans and its development, supporting the company’s long-term objectives and customers’ commitments.
Contract Negotiation:
a. Lead the negotiation and establishment of long-term contracts and strategic framework agreements, ensuring they are in place to support the strategic goals of the organization.
b. A solid understanding of negotiations strategies to secure favorable outcomes for the business.
c. Cost and Capacity Strategies: Develop and implement cost reduction and capacity strategies through value analysis, inventory management, and optimization.
Stakeholder Engagement:
a. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Finance and Operations teams, to ensure alignment on the Commodity strategy and objectives.
b. Good influencing skills and able to manage a variety of relationships both horizontally and vertically.
c. Be a change agent for Supply Chain.
d. Work closely with SCM Program Managers to ensure Procurement activities are actively monitored and provide comprehensive reports to ensure the Team socialise within the IPT
e. Finding solutions to complex problems and agreeing the implementation of these solutions
f. New Product Support - assist new product teams in developing relationships with new and existing suppliers to match product needs with supplier capabilities and new technologies
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
a. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of the Commodity strategies and team performance.
b. Interrogate SAP to ensure data is accurate and ensure the team is compliant.
c. Provide regular updates to Senior management on procurement activities, achievements and areas for improvement.
d. Manage risk proactively within the Supply Chain incorporating the use of risk registers / Kraljic methods and regular review with high risk suppliers.
e. Experience of implementing Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) techniques / tools with Suppliers (RMMs, Score Cards, Monthly Performance Reviews (MPRs), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Communication Plans, Supply Chain Resilience, etc).
Requirements :-
- A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering (Electronic or Electrical),
- Professional procurement certification (e.g. CIPS).
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a high volume, global sourcing and operations manufacturing environment.
- Experience as a Commodity Manager with Electronics and/or PCB experience
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Aerospace / Defense experience
- A good understanding of Export Control (including EAR) and INCOTERMS associated with moving material within the Aero / Defense Industry
- In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive change and deliver measurable results.
- A robust understanding and comprehension of Contract & Law
- Ability to review and understand engineering requirements for semiconductors, passives, etc design documents for PCBAs and overall electro-mechanical components and parts
- Experience with working with top tier Electronics and PCB manufacturers including distributors
- Experience in working in a Commodity environment
- A good understanding and implementation of SRM
- Robust analytical and numerical skills
- Good presentation skills and be able to confidently present to Senior Management
- Experience with Conflict resolution and solution generation
- A robust understanding and demonstrated experience with SAP & SAP Ariba
- Good understanding of Inventory Management
- Awareness of Logistics processes
- Excellent time and organizational management
Additional Information
- The role may also require National (20%) and International (40%) travel where directed by the Senior Commodity Manager, Commodity Director or governed by operational demands
