We are now seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to join our Engineering team and play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, traceability, and compliance of our engineering data and product configurations.
Role Purpose
The Configuration Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving configuration management processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and traceability of engineering data throughout the product lifecycle. The role ensures that all engineering changes, documentation, and product structures are effectively controlled and compliant with company policies and applicable industry standards.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role works closely with cross‑functional teams to safeguard configuration baselines and support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and maintain configuration management processes across the engineering lifecycle
- Govern engineering change control (ECPs/ECOs) to ensure traceability and compliance
- Manage product structures, Bills of Material, and configuration baselines within PLM systems
- Ensure accurate control, versioning, and release of all engineering documentation
- Maintain configuration status accounting and full traceability of changes
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Projects to ensure configuration accuracy
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001 / AS9100)
- Identify and resolve configuration and data discrepancies across systems and documentation
- Drive continuous improvement in configuration, document control, and change workflows
- Provide guidance, reporting, and assurance to management on configuration risks and status
Education Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Certification or formal training in Configuration Management is highly desirable
Work Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience (preferably 10–15 years) in Configuration Management or Product Data Management across the full product lifecycle
- Proven experience supporting engineering design, development, production, and in‑service support environments
- Hands‑on experience managing configuration for complex engineering products or systems
- Demonstrated leadership of engineering change control in regulated or quality‑driven organizations
- Practical experience working with PLM systems in multi‑disciplinary engineering teams
- Experience supporting internal and external audits within ISO 9001 / AS9100‑compliant environments
- Background in Aerospace, Defense, or similarly regulated industries is highly advantageous
Key Technical Skills
- Extensive experience with SAP PLM and PTC Windchill, or equivalent systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Experience with Document Management Systems
