Job Description
The ECL (Empty Components Lab) Specialist in LAHAB will manage all incoming inspection of empty components, ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements before production release, supervise laboratory activities, investigate non-conformances, and maintain quality management system compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all incoming inspections of empty components and packaging materials.
- Ensure sampling plans are executed according to approved procedures.
- Verify compliance of incoming materials against approved specifications, drawings, standards, and quality agreements.
- Review and approve inspection results prior to material release.
- Coordinate inspection priorities to support production schedules.
- Manage daily operations of the Empty Components Lab.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated, maintained, and fit for purpose.
- Develop and implement testing methods and inspection procedures.
- Monitor laboratory performances metrics and turnaround times.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and organization within the laboratory.
- Maintain accurate inspection and laboratory records.
- Support internal and external supplier audits.
- Lead investigation into component defects and quality issues.
- Raise and manage non-conformance reports.
- Monitor recurring supplier quality issues.
- Maintain records as required by IMS / Departmental procedure.
- Ensure measurement accuracy, traceability, and compliance with quality standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025.
HSE Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide OSH information, training and supervision;
- Assist with the preparation of risk assessments;
- Ensure application of appropriate risk control measures; and
- Reporting of OSH hazards and incidents
Basic Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science
- Minimum 05 years experience in Quality Assurance, inspecting incoming mechanical components.
- Proven experience working within calibration and exposure to setting up an Empty Components lab
- Experience of Quality Management Systems & industry standards like ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and preferably also in Arabic
- Willing and able to travel locally
Preferred Requirements and Skills
- Experience in explosives environment
- Understanding of explosives/ammunition environment
