Electronic Warfare (EW) Trials SME 

The Electronic Warfare Trials Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for leading, planning, and managing all electronic warfare (EW) tests and trials conducted at the Range. This role combines technical expertise in EW with strong project management capabilities, ensuring that trial objectives are met on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The EW Trials SME acts as the focal point for coordinating between internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to deliver effective EW test outcomes and shape the long-term EW capability strategy.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Planning & Project Management

  • Develop and design detailed project and test plans, defining project scope, resources, timelines, and costs using SAP and Microsoft Project.
  • Ensure all EW trials are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with budgetary objectives.
  • Maintain visibility of project progress through structured reporting and stakeholder communication.
  • Identify and escalate risks, providing mitigation strategies and decision support to leadership.

Execution & Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams including instrumentation specialists, engineers, safety officers, and Range Conducting Officers to execute EW trials.
  • Ensure effective coordination between client requirements and Range capabilities.
  • Drive accountability across teams to achieve objectives while maintaining operational excellence and safety.

Safety, Compliance & Governance

  • Oversee the implementation of risk assessments, safety traces, and hazardous activity management for EW trials.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards, working closely with regulatory authorities.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, implementing corrective actions where required.

Data Capture & Reporting

  • Oversee the design and application of robust data capture strategies to meet client requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality in trial data analysis, reporting, and recommendations.
  • Deliver client-focused reports that support decision-making and future operational improvements.

Capability Development & Strategy

  • Shape the long-term strategy for EW trial capabilities at the Range, ensuring the Remaya equipment strategy evolves with client and operational demands.
  • Contribute to process optimization, system enhancements, and policy development to strengthen EW operations.
  • Evaluate project outcomes and provide recommendations for continuous improvement in EW trial design and execution.

Supporting Accountabilities

  • Develop and review technical documentation, manuals, and training content to support operational readiness.
  • Conduct benchmarking and research to integrate best practices and new technologies into EW trial operations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in high-level client discussions, project reviews, and stakeholder negotiations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and specialists to build internal EW technical capability.
  • Contribute to the organization’s knowledge management through structured lessons learned and improvement initiatives.

 

Experience & Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Defense Systems, or related field. Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Project Management, or Defense Technology. Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
  •  Minimum 10 years’ experience in electronic warfare testing, defense trials, or range operations.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing and delivering large-scale EW or defense-related projects.
  • In-depth understanding of EW systems, instrumentation, range management practices, and test methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, defense compliance standards, and EW testing protocols.
  • Experience in land, sea, and air defense systems integration.
  • Familiarity with explosives and ammunition safety management.
  • Previous experience working with international defense clients and regulatory authorities.
