Key Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Act as the electrical technician for the completion of any electrical/electronic fabrication task. 
  • Apply all types of tools and electrical test equipment including meggers, oscilloscopes, protective relay testers, multi-testers, watt meters, etc.
  • Comply with electrical guides, diagrams (which may be incomplete or require modification/troubleshooting), building plans, schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals so as to plan and install the routing, type, size, gauge, load etc. of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls, ensuring continuity and safety.
  • Install, test and troubleshoot unique prototype applications and electrical portions of the equipment used in prototype development.
  • Formulate layout sketches of required electrical circuits where new test setups are needed to measure the performance of articles.
  • Ensure that final inspections are performed on all completed jobs to ensure that a quality product is delivered to the customer.
  • Comply with all safety, housekeeping and environmental directives.
  • Maintain all equipment by undertaking all user preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all issued tools, uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is accounted for, maintained and secured.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
  • Support other members of the Fabrication Workshop in fulfilling their roles.
  • Perform other duties as required by their line manager and the Manager, Fabrication.

 

 

Experience and Education:

 

  • A qualification in electrical or electronic engineering is required.  Relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a qualification.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working as an electrician with electrical/electronic systems is required.
  • Previous military or manufacturing industry experience is an advantage.
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team is preferred.
  • The ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings/schematics is required.
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve electrical related problems is preferred.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is required.
