Key Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Define system and subsystem functional and interface requirements.
  • Develop design concepts and prototypes to confirm requirements and user needs.
  • Develop solution alternatives and conduct trade studies in order to make the most appropriate design decision.
  • Research material and component costs and availability.
  • Assess and document design risks.
  • Assist the Senior Engineer, Mechanical in presenting designs at technical reviews.
  • Create CAD models and detailed drawings, and create associated parts lists.
  • Estimate material, component and assembly costs.
  • Develop design schedules and provide progress status metrics.
  • Integrate, or support integration of designs into higher level assemblies.
  • Balance cost, performance, quality, reliability, testability and manufacturability in the overall design.
  • Make use of and apply best practise techniques, standards, principle, theories and concepts.
  • Test produced designs or support tests against established test plans or criteria.
  • Learn, understand and comply with applicable contractual obligations and established AL TAIF Quality and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
  • Support other members of the Engineering Department in fulfilling their roles.
  • Perform other duties as required by their line manager and the Director, Engineering.

 

 

Experience and Education:

 

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in the development of specific automotive subsystems is required.
  • Proficiency in CAD and CAE tools for design, linear and non-linear modelling, simulation and analysis is required; in CREO and ANSYS is preferred.
  • Previous experience with military tactical, combat or support ground vehicles is an advantage.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, team orientated environment on multiple discipline projects with changing priorities and schedules is required.
  • Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office software and CMMS is preferred.
