Job Description:

Performs all phases of architectural work including planning, designing and overseeing the construction of new buildings, extensions, alterations, and renovation projects for AL TAIF TECHNICAL SERVICES LLC.  Develop and review project planning documents for consistency with program scope and intent, and be responsible for long-range facilities planning and programming in support of all programs managed by AL TAIF.  Ensures the process is maintained within the latest ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standards.  Learns, understands and complies with applicable health, safety and environment directives. Participates in the development of a safe and healthy working environment.  Ensures compliance with all company policies, manuals, procedures and work instructions.

 

Major Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Communicate with customers to understand project requirements.
  • Participate with other engineers to define system and subsystem functional and interface requirements.
  • Develop design concepts and prototypes to confirm requirements and user needs.
  • Develop solution alternatives and conduct trade studies in order to make the most appropriate design decision.
  • Take feedback from the customer at each step of the project.
  • Research material and component costs and availability.
  • Assess and document design risks.
  • Assist the Senior Engineer, SIL in presenting designs at technical reviews.
  • Create drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and instruction manuals for each project.
  • Undertake a technical evaluation of BOMs submitted by suppliers.
  • Develop design schedules and provide progress status metrics.
  • Make use of and apply best practise techniques, standards, principle, theories and concepts.
  • Test produced designs or support testing taken against established test plans or project criteria.
  • Manage project man hours.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
  • Support other members of the Engineering Department in fulfilling their roles.
  • Perform other duties as required by their line manager and Director, Engineering.

 

Key skills:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrics or Electronics Engineering required, Master degree preferred
  • A minimum of one to three years of experience working in the detailed design of electrical systems, hardware and software is required.
  • Experience working on multiple discipline projects in the development of specific automotive subsystems is preferred.
  • Previous experience with military tactical, combat or support ground vehicles is an advantage.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, team orientated environment with changing priorities and schedules is required.
  • Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office software and CMMS is preferred.
