Job Summary:

 

Provide a Mechanical Design capability in Halcon Systems SAD & Fuze Department.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide an in-house mechanical design capability to support the various development programmes of Halcon;
  • Undertake mechanical design and support work throughout the life-cycle of electro-mechanical fuse systems under development, for all phases of conceptual design, preliminary design, detail design and development, manufacture, production, end-use support and phase-out/disposal;
  • Perform precise engineering calculations using theoretical methods as well as computational simulations;
  • Devise, organize and ensure engineering arrangements and revisions;
  • Establish test specifications and procedures to ensure that all design requirements are met;
  • Evaluate the performance of mechanical equipment against set performance requirements;
  • Mentor and monitor mechanical engineers;
  • Steer and support technical personnel reporting to your function to deliver on their responsibilities as designated by the Lead Engineer.

 

Experience & Education Qualifications:

  • At least 5 yr (Bachelor’s) or 4 yr (Master’s) of related experience, preferably, in the aerospace industry     
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and/or equivalent technical qualification in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Working knowledge in the broad spectrum of mechanical engineering as related to fine mechanical system development and manufacturing
  • A thorough understanding of fine mechanical product development, testing and production
  • Visual and spatial awareness, attention to detail, problem solving
  • Strong math, CAD and Product Data Management skills
  • Technical communication (Written and oral.) with technical and non-technical personnel, suppliers and customers
