Job Summary
To independently execute aeromechanical engineering activities for aircraft-weapon integration, including assessment of structural loads, vibration, aeroelastic and dynamic response, mechanical interfaces, and release environments. Ensure safe, compliant, and compatible integration of weapon systems onto airborne platforms in line with military standards, airworthiness requirements, and program objectives, while supporting integration reviews and testing.
Key Accountabilities
- Aircraft-Weapon Aeromechanical Integration: Perform aeromechanical activities related to integration of weapon systems onto aircraft, including mechanical interfaces, carriage, and release environments.
- Mechanical Interface Definition: Define, assess, and verify interfaces between weapon systems, suspension equipment, and aircraft structures.
- Structural, Loads and Dynamic Analysis: Conduct or support analyses including structural loads, vibration, aeroelastic and dynamic response to assess compatibility and integration impacts.
- Design and Integration Reviews: Support design and integration reviews by providing technical inputs, analysis results, and justifications.
- Test and Verification Support: Support testing activities including ground and flight test preparation, instrumentation coordination, and data review.
- Compliance and Airworthiness: Ensure activities comply with military standards, airworthiness requirements, contracts, and internal procedures.
- Engineering Documentation and Traceability: Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, calculations, reports, and compliance records.
- Technical Issue Resolution: Identify and support resolution of issues during design, integration, testing, or operations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with systems, safety, test, manufacturing, and integration teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving methods, tools, and processes.
- Engineering Tools: Use tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, MATLAB, and CFD tools for analysis and evaluation.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with aeronautical subjects or Aerospace Engineering
- 4+ years experience in defence or aerospace, preferably aircraft-weapon integration
- Knowledge of integration principles and aeromechanical interfaces
- Knowledge of structural loads, vibration, aeroelasticity, and dynamics
- Knowledge of engineering analysis and reporting
- Safety awareness
- Knowledge of CAD, numerical analysis, and CFD tools
- Understanding of Lean principles
- Knowledge of test and verification processes
