Role Purpose
Lead the technical qualification, development and industrialization of POWERTECH’s manufacturing supply base across the UAE and international supplier network, supporting turbofan, microjet and piston engine programs.
The role owns supplier technical readiness from initial capability assessment through development planning, APQP execution, process validation and production ramp-up. This position requires a hands-on aerospace manufacturing leader capable of building supplier development capability and maintaining robust technical gates under commercial and schedule pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical capability assessments of suppliers covering machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding and casting.
- Assess manufacturing methods, equipment, tooling, fixturing, metrology, special processes, sub-tier controls and quality maturity.
- Lead capacity studies covering cycle time, utilization, manning, changeover and bottlenecks, validating capacity through run-at-rate demonstrations.
- Own supplier development plans, maturity gates, entry/exit criteria and evidence requirements.
- Govern APQP, PFMEA, control plans, routings, tooling, gauging, process validation and production readiness.
- Provide senior technical authority for supplier manufacturing and process problems.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for process instability, dimensional variation, scrap and yield loss.
- Lead technology transfer and industrialization of manufacturing processes to partners.
- Ensure tooling, gauging, CNC programs, process documentation and training are complete before handover.
- Build and lead the Industrialization & Supplier Development team.
- Present supplier readiness, risks and gate status to senior leadership.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metrology, Inspection and Product Quality.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering.
- 10+ years’ aerospace/aero-engine manufacturing experience, including supplier development, industrialization or manufacturing engineering.
- Strong manufacturing expertise across machining, turning, grinding, forming, welding/brazing or investment casting.
- Deep knowledge of APQP, PPAP/AS9145, AS9102 FAI, PFMEA, control plans, process capability and MSA.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP or equivalent.
- Experience developing and qualifying aerospace suppliers.
- Experience building supplier development capability from the ground up.
- Willingness to travel internationally and regularly work at supplier sites.
