ABOUT THE ROLE

The Land Test Team Lead is responsible for planning, designing, and leading complex land-based test and evaluation activities conducted at Abu Al Abyad Test Range and other assigned locations. The role oversees the execution of a wide range of testing programmes, including arena testing, static rocket and engine testing, insensitive ammunition qualification testing, mine resistance testing, and other defence-related test activities.

Working closely with clients, test specialists, engineers, and technicians, the Land Test Team Lead ensures that test activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical, operational, and customer requirements. The role also provides technical leadership in test design, data acquisition, analysis, reporting, equipment management, and capability development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of land test activities, including arena testing, static rocket and engine testing, insensitive ammunition qualification testing, mine resistance testing, and related programmes.
  • Collaborate with test specialists and clients to define test requirements and develop optimal test configurations.
  • Design test setups that accurately capture the required performance, safety, and evaluation data.
  • Develop verification test plans, test procedures, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Oversee test engineers and technicians during test preparation and execution activities.
  • Ensure all required test data is captured, validated, and recorded in accordance with project and customer requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of technical reports and ensure test data is analysed and presented accurately.
  • Manage the setup, operation, calibration, maintenance, and utilisation of data acquisition systems, sensors, and testing equipment.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and identify opportunities to enhance testing capabilities and equipment performance.
  • Support the development and mentoring of engineers and technicians to strengthen technical capability across the team.
  • Coordinate with clients, conducting officers, contractors, subcontractors, and internal engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable technical standards, procedures, safety requirements, and range documentation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience leading technical teams consisting of engineers and technicians.
  • Experience planning and executing test and evaluation programmes within defence, military, explosives, weapons, or related industries.
  • Experience with test and evaluation activities against standards such as UN Series 4, STANAG 4569, STANAG 4297, STANAG 4439, AOP-39, and AOP-55.
  • Strong knowledge of explosives, munitions, weapon systems, and qualification testing methodologies.
  • Experience setting up and operating data acquisition systems, instrumentation, sensors, and explosive test setups.
  • Strong understanding of dynamics, vibration, thermodynamics, and associated data analysis techniques.
  • Experience working within a test and evaluation range environment.
  • Experience developing verification test plans, test procedures, technical reports, and associated documentation.
  • Ability to mentor, lead, and provide technical guidance to engineering and technical teams.
  • Strong communication and technical report-writing skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, travel, and support customer requirements when required.

  • Arabic language skills.
  • Experience working with military, defence, or government customers.
  • Experience training and developing technical personnel.
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing new testing technologies, instrumentation, and data acquisition solutions.
  • Experience working across multiple test disciplines and complex defence programmes.
