Core Accountabilities

  • Review, evaluate, and develop inspection methods by applying sound engineering principles in fixture and special gauges design to ensure efficiency and reliability of inspection methods.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and product flow. Must apply Lean principles.
  • Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient and reliable inspection methods. Study specifications, engineering drawings and shop data and confer with engineering and shop personnel to ensure product conformance.
  • Establish work instructions to documents and describe the inspection methods.
  • Perform gauge’s reliability and reproducibility (R&R) study.
  • Coordinate with QC engineers to ensure smooth processing and flow of inspection processes.
  • Prepare inspection fixtures and gauges concepts, coordinate review and approval by manufacturing staff and develop detailed CAD drawings.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Manage and conduct QC personnel training for productivity improvement projects, and mentor fellow engineers and technicians.
  • Experience developing control plans, validating test methods and gauges, and driving corrective actions / failure analysis efforts.
  • Project management experience and a deep understanding of problem-solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis and statistical process control principles preferred.
  • Ensure quality records are maintained up-to-date.
  • Experience in hands-on manufacturing environment of mechanical enclosures, casings, plastic parts, injection molding, tooling, jigs, fixtures, or automotive high volume quality manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Understanding of DOE principles
  • Promote the awareness and importance of compliance to HSE processes and ensure that all QC tasks and QC activities are performed in compliance with the established HSE policies, procedures and SOP’s.

 

Experience & Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quality/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related equivalent qualification.

• 5-7 years of experience as Quality/industrial engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement.
