ABOUT THE ROLE

The Principal CAD Designer - Electronic is responsible for the design, control, and release of complex PCB layouts and manufacturing documentation within a highly regulated engineering environment.
The role requires expertise in Altium Designer, Windchill PLM, PCB design standards, and configuration management processes to support the development of high-reliability electronic products.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, maintain PCB design standards, and ensure all deliverables are ready for manufacturing and compliant with applicable quality requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop multi-layer PCB layouts, component placements, and routing solutions using Altium Designer, considering signal integrity, EMC/EMI, thermal, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Generate complete manufacturing documentation packages, including Gerber files, ODB++, NC drill files, assembly drawings, fabrication outputs, and BOMs.
  • Manage PCB configurations, revisions, part structures, and change control activities within Windchill PLM, ensuring full traceability and configuration integrity.
  • Review PCB designs, maintain component libraries, mentor junior designers, and drive continuous improvement in PCB design methodologies and documentation standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8–15 years of experience in PCB CAD design, layout development, and manufacturing documentation within a regulated industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Altium Designer, including schematic integration, PCB layout, routing, and library management.
  • Strong knowledge of Windchill PDM/PLM, IPC standards, configuration management, and manufacturing-ready PCB documentation practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in defence, aerospace, or other high-reliability industries operating under formal configuration control and quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of Zuken and/or Mentor Graphics, with experience supporting design reviews, product lifecycle management, and engineering change processes.
