Role Purpose 

The Principal Engineer, Mechatronics is responsible for providing technical leadership and subject‑matter expertise across the design, development, integration, and validation of Weapon Systems integration and Test engineering. The role ensures that engineering solutions meet performance, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements while supporting production readiness and ongoing system improvements

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Establish an in-house test equipment design capability for the Smart Systems Development Programme’s test and integration requirements, both on the system and sub-system levels.
  • Be a key member in programmes design reviews in order to influence the testability, reliability, availability, maintainability and producibility of the designs and products with specific focus on test engineering.
  • Interpret design test specifications to generate production test specifications and procedures (for both hardware and software) and design and develop automated test equipment.
  • Gain design intent knowledge for the testing and integration of a specific weapon system and subsystems.
  • Provide guidance to development projects regarding best practices in the test engineering environment to form a bridge between systems engineering, development engineering and operations by utilizing both your hardware design skills & software skills in NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, NI FPGA Labview , C# & Embedded C.
  • Participate as a member of the Mechatronics engineering management team regarding product test strategies, weapon integration teams support and the Halcon production test infrastructure.
  • Mentor subordinates and engineers to facilitate test equipment development tasks.

Requirements 


Education 
•    Bachelor’s and/or equivalent technical qualification in electrical/electronic or aerospace engineering

Work Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in mechatronics and related engineering domains, with significant experience in leading complex projects
  • Expert knowledge of test techniques, NI test software (LabVIEW, TestStand, FPGA Labview and electronics hardware design & development.
