Responsibilities:

  • To perform (or lead) analysis to find aerodynamic coefficients and/or airflow characteristics of an air vehicle (fixed wing and/or rotary wing UAVs) or of an individual external components/equipment via Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and/or other analysis methods.
  • To perform (or lead) CFD analysis of compartment bays for airflow characterization and/or for thermal coefficients determinations.
  • To lead design effort of aerodynamic shape of the AV
  • To performance trade off studies related to aerostat and derivatives.
  • To collaborate effectively with system, avionics and mechanical teams to optimize aero and fluid dynamics and thermal management solutions for optimum system performance. 
  • To lead determination of locations and characteristics of attitude and air sensors
  • Work close with mechanical team to define the optimum location of the sensors.
  • Work close with avionics team to define the equations and look-up tables for air and attitude sensors.
  • To perform testing and data collection in laboratory and field environments pertaining to define avionics LRUs and AV compartments environmental conditions.
  • To perform efforts defining and testing aerodynamic loads
  • To perform wind tunnel tests, cleaning the test data and support aerodynamic database preparation efforts.
  • Manage small size development projects outsourced to sub-contractors (development of a single component or equipment).
  • Execute team lead or specialist assignments effectively in accordance with the given schedule, milestone and available resources.
  • To effectively use the following CAD /CAE tools to perform the above activities: 
  • CFD analysis tools ANSYS Fluent
  • Excel, and Visual Basic or Matlab
  • To use the following CAD /CAE tools to perform the above activities: 
  • CATIA for Solid modeling
  • FEA tools (Nastran) for thermal or structural analysis purposes.
  • To consistently follow the V model for product development and apply the ARP4754, guideline for system engineering
  • To consistently follow the MIL-STD 961D standard for developing subsystem technical specification.  
  • To support and contribute to program milestones and major reviews (such as various SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR ..etc).
  • To comply with established ADASI, quality assurance and configuration management guidelines and processes.

 

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of five years of related experience in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of four years in aerodynamic analysis via CFD, geometry clean up, meshing and post processing/flow visualization tools. Analyses include estimation of all aerodynamic coefficients and forces, estimation of local flow characteristics and individual external component aerodynamic analysis.
