Qualifications:

• Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Aviation or Flight Operations, or qualified/licensed aircrew, or qualified/licenced UAS Operator.

• Formal training in Aviation Safety Management

Required Skills:

• Expert level knowledge and experience in Aviation Safety Management.

• Atleast 10 years of experience in aviation and flight operations environment.

• Broad based knowledge of aircraft and UAV avionics systems.

• Strong leadership qualities.

• Computer literacy in, at least, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.

• Above-average written and verbal communication (English).

Preferable Attributes:

• Formal training in Aviation Accident Investigation.

• Relevant military training and background.

• Basic knowledge of aviation safety standards and experience in aviation safety assurance processes.

• General user knowledge and operator competence of Ground Control Stations.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to plan and possess strong organizational skills.

• Team player and ability to collaborate with engineering disciplines and other flight operations teams.

Responsibilities:

• The responsibilities of the Test Operations Manager include, but is not limited, to the following:

• Development and maintaining of Test Operations Procedures and related documentation in line with the Flight Test Operations manual (FTOM) and EDGE Group Policies.

• Ensure that safety standards are maintained as per as per Company policy, the Safety Management System (SMS) and legislation requirements as applicable, within allocated area of responsibility.

• Establish and maintain general aviation safety principles and awareness (equivalence of CRM) related to Range Safety, and identify relevant training requirements.

• Assist the allocated Flight Test Engineer, as Safety Officer if applicable, in the maintenance of communications and procedural discipline during the execution of flight tests.

• Assist the Test Director with the timely identification of flight test support requirements.

• Assist the Test Director with the timely planning of test campaign deployments as required.

• Assist the Test Director with the allocation of test support personnel.

• Assist program management and flight test teams in the scheduling of test campaigns.

• Receive timely inputs for the Test Flight Flying Program.

• Liaise with Test Ranges and coordinate the Test Flight Flying Program with the Range and/or relevant Test Site schedule.

• Publish the agreed Test Flight Flying Program consistent with the Range and/or relevant Test Site schedule.

• Assist the Test Director with maintaining and implementing the Test Readiness Status Tracker.

• Assist the Test Conductor and allocated Flight Test Engineer with maintaining the Flight Test Dossier up to date.

• Distribute the Test Accomplishment Summary according to the project’s stakeholders list.

• Maintain the Test Operations Database up to date.

• Updating of internal operational documentation.

• Filing of operational documentation according to the ADASI Configuration Management policies, and ensuring that all flight test documents are properly placed on record.

• Assist the allocated Flight Test Engineer(s) in the managing of flight test scheduling within project milestones in accordance with ADASI processes, including the planning, execution and monitoring flight test activities.

• Adherence to the flight test process ensuring it is maintained during the execution of duties, including the maintenance of Flight Test Dossiers in accordance with the ADASI Flight Test Operations Manual.

• Ensure that test teams maintain accurate configuration records of the System under Test in accordance with ADASI processes and the ADASI Flight Test Operations Manual.

• Assist the allocated Flight Test Conductor to record events and maintain accurate notes of observations / findings during the execution of flight tests.

• Comply with the Quality Management System i.a.w. the AS 9100D and ISO 9001 standards, as per Company Policy, and support activities related to Flight Test and associated engineering to ensure that the company retains its AS 9100D Accreditation Certificate.

• Reporting of non-compliances on both safety and quality issues within the allocated work to the responsible line management.

• Professional execution of other ad hoc tasks within current capabilities as delegated by management.  This will however be mutually agreed as and when required.

• Compliance with proper document and configuration control of all Flight Operations records and documents.

• Arrange transportation, approvals and security permits as required for the movement of tests assets to and from respective facilities.

• Arrange personnel accommodation consistent with deployment requirements.

• Arrange personnel access to secured areas consistent with deployment requirements.

Authorisation level:

• Review of Event, Incident or Accident notifications.

• Review of Event, Incident or Accident investigation reports.

• Review of Test Hazard Assessments, flight test plans, and related documents associated with the flight test process, and as assigned by the Head of Flight Test.

• Review of flight test scheduling in line with project milestones and resource allocations.
