Job Overview

We are looking for a Principal Vibration, Aeroacoustics, and Environmental Engineer to join our team in the Unmanned Aerial Platforms industry. This role focuses on aircraft vibration analysis, aeroacoustic assessments, and environmental qualification of airborne systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural dynamics, environmental testing, and acoustic analysis, ensuring UAV performance and reliability under diverse operational conditions, including thermal extremes, sand, dust, and vibration loads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct vibration analysis, ensuring airframe and subsystem durability under operational and transportation conditions.
  • Perform aeroacoustic studies, analyzing noise generation and transmission effects on UAV structures.
  • Define and oversee environmental qualification tests, including thermal cycling, shock, sand/dust exposure, humidity, and high-altitude conditions, in accordance with aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, DO-160).
  • Develop and validate finite element (FE) models for structural vibration and acoustics analysis, using tools like Nastran, ANSYS, or similar tools.
  • Define instrumentation and support ground and flight tests, including vibration surveys, acoustic measurements, and thermal exposure tests.
  • Analyze fatigue and damage potential from environmental stressors and propose design improvements.
  • Support the qualification of avionics, payloads, and mechanical components through rigorous shock, vibration, and acoustic testing.
  • Elaborate technical reports.
  • Collaborate for continuous improved of company processes and methods.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior engineers, supporting the development of best practices in vibration, noise, and environmental engineering.
  • Work closely with mechanical design, aerodynamics, and propulsion teams to mitigate environmental risks and optimize UAV durability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or a related field).
  • 8+ years of experience in vibration analysis, aeroacoustics, and environmental testing.
  • Proficiency with FE-based vibration and acoustics simulation tools (e.g., Nastran, ANSYS).
  • Strong background in experimental vibration testing, frequency response analysis, and modal correlation.
  • Experience in environmental qualification, including MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or equivalent standards.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and sensors for structural vibration and acoustic testing.
  • Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB) for test data analysis and automation.
  • Ability to lead technical projects, interfacing with multiple disciplines to achieve robust UAV designs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UAVs, military aircraft, or high-performance aerospace systems.
  • Knowledge of nonlinear vibration, fatigue assessment, and shock analysis.
  • Background in propulsion system noise analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with high-intensity aeroacoustic noise environments and their structural impacts.

Why Join Us?

  • Work on cutting-edge UAV technologies, ensuring aircraft survivability and mission readiness.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, addressing real-world operational challenges.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and opportunities for career growth.

If you are passionate about vibration, acoustics, and environmental durability in aerospace, we would love to hear from you!
