ABOUT THE ROLE
Product Manager — P220i Engine Programme
Single-threaded owner of the P200+ class (P220i, ≈220 HP, MALE-class heavy-fuel engine) — Powertech’s highest-value, partnership-driven product.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Ownership & Authority
- Single-threaded owner — act as the final technical and commercial decision-maker for the P220i across its full lifecycle.
- Roadmap & baseline — own the product roadmap, configuration baseline, requirements, and change control.
- Product P&L — own the business case for a high-value, lower-volume product — unit cost, pricing, margin, and capital intensity.
Partnership & Manufacturing (Italy)
- Partner management — manage the Italy-based development and manufacturing partnership day-to-day — technical direction, milestones, deliverables, and commercial terms — within the agreed governance.
- Industrialisation — drive build, assembly, and industrialisation of the P220i at the Italy facility; maintain strong on-site presence during development and build.
Engineering & Product Definition
- Requirements & interfaces — define and maintain engine requirements and interface control (mechanical, electrical, ECU/EFI, ICD) for MALE-class integration.
- Architecture — drive decisions on the larger-displacement heavy-fuel architecture, EFI/ECU, redundancy, generator/power, and installation envelope.
Programme & Delivery Management
- Schedule & risk — own the master schedule, risk register, and gate/milestone delivery (concept → development → qualification → first build).
- Governance — report programme and partnership status; manage interdependencies and recovery planning.
Test, Validation & Qualification
- Test strategy — own the test and qualification strategy; direct the assigned Test Engineer and approve test plans, acceptance criteria, and qualification evidence.
- Hands-on — be present in the test cell and at integration / flight-test campaigns; review and sign off test data.
- Compliance — drive compliance against customer specifications (e.g., Reach-M) and applicable airworthiness/environmental standards.
Customer & Business Development
- Customer interface — be the primary technical and commercial point of contact for MALE-class customers; lead RFQ/SOW, quotations, and negotiations with BD support.
- Pipeline — develop the high-value MALE-class pipeline regionally and internationally.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Automotive, or Propulsion Engineering (Master’s desirable).
- 8+ years in engine/powertrain development or propulsion programme management, including significant programme leadership.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a complex engine/powertrain product through development, qualification, and delivery.
- Proven management of development/manufacturing partnerships or joint ventures, ideally cross-border.
- Strong commercial acumen on high-value, capital-intensive products.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Heavy-fuel / larger-displacement engine experience; MALE-class UAV propulsion.
- Defence programme and offset/JV experience; ISO 9001 / AS9100 environments.
- Italian-market familiarity and experience working with Italian engineering/manufacturing partners.
- Engine architecture and integration; EFI/ECU and fuel systems; performance and reliability fundamentals (power, BSFC, TBO).
- Partnership/JV governance, contract and milestone management, industrialisation.
- CAD (SolidWorks), STEP/CATIA interfacing; requirements and ICD management; programme, cost, and risk tooling.
