About POWERTECH

POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

 

Purpose

The Product Quality Engineer II executes product approval and acceptance activities for supplier-manufactured parts across Powertech propulsion programs. The role reviews supplier APQP, PPAP and first article inspection submissions, prepares inspection plans, and supports configuration and change management coordination between Design Engineering, Supply Chain and suppliers, with approval authority exercised under the guidance of the Senior Product Quality Engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Approval Review

  • Review supplier first article inspection reports against AS9102 requirements, verifying characteristic accountability, ballooning, measured results and measurement equipment.
  • Review supplier PPAP packages for completeness and technical adequacy, and prepare recommendations for approval.
  • Review supplier APQP deliverables including process flow, PFMEA and control plans, and assess alignment with key characteristics.
  • Verify supplier compliance with quality requirements flowed down through the purchase order and supplier quality requirements document.
  • Assess process capability data submitted against requirements for designated key characteristics.

Inspection Planning

  • Prepare incoming inspection plans, sampling strategies and acceptance criteria for assigned part numbers.
  • Support definition of key characteristics and their flow-down to supplier control plans.
  • Review gauge and measurement method suitability, and support measurement systems analysis review.
  • Support Assembly in resolving incoming inspection method and interpretation queries.

Nonconformance & Change Management

  • Raise and administer material review records during new product introduction, and coordinate disposition with Design Engineering.
  • Review supplier concession and deviation requests and prepare technical assessments.
  • Review supplier 8D submissions and track corrective action closure and effectiveness verification.
  • Support change management coordination between Engineering, Supply Chain and suppliers, including determination of FAI and PPAP impact.
  • Maintain product approval status and configuration records for assigned parts.

Supplier Engagement

  • Participate in supplier gate and industrialization reviews.
  • Conduct on-site product verification and source inspection activities where required.
  • Communicate submission findings and required corrections clearly to suppliers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials or Metrology Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in aerospace quality, supplier quality, inspection or manufacturing engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Practical experience preparing or reviewing FAI (AS9102) and PPAP packages.
  • Competent GD&T application and drawing interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of metrology methods, CMM inspection and measurement systems analysis.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PFMEA, control plans and process capability methods.
  • Experience of nonconformance handling and structured problem solving.
  • Understanding of machining and sheet metal fabrication processes for aerospace components.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier sites.
