ABOUT THE ROLE

About POWERTECH

POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

 

Purpose

The Product Quality Engineer I supports product approval and acceptance activities for supplier-manufactured parts under the direction of senior Product Quality Engineers. The role is an entry point into aerospace product quality engineering, developing competence in first article inspection, production part approval, inspection planning and configuration control through structured task execution and supplier-facing work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

Submission Review Support

  • Review supplier first article inspection reports for completeness against AS9102 requirements and prepare findings for senior review.
  • Support review of PPAP and APQP submissions and prepare completeness checklists.
  • Verify characteristic accountability and drawing ballooning against released drawing revisions.
  • Collate and organize product approval evidence packages and maintain submission records.

 

Inspection & Measurement Support

  • Support preparation of incoming inspection plans and acceptance criteria.
  • Support collection and analysis of measurement and capability data.
  • Support gauge and measurement method review activities.
  • Assist Assembly with routine incoming inspection queries under guidance.

 

Nonconformance & Records

  • Support raising and administration of material review records during new product introduction.
  • Support tracking of supplier corrective actions and concession requests.
  • Maintain product approval status records, change records and configuration traceability data.
  • Prepare status reports and metrics on submission volumes, acceptance rates and open actions.

 

Development

  • Participate in supplier reviews and site visits to build supplier-facing competence.
  • Develop working knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, metrology and product approval frameworks.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials or Metrology Engineering.
  • 0–3 years of experience; internship, graduate placement or early-career experience in aerospace quality or manufacturing is an advantage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, with foundational GD&T knowledge.
  • Foundational understanding of inspection and measurement methods.
  • Familiarity with quality concepts including nonconformance, corrective action and inspection planning.
  • Strong attention to detail and disciplined record keeping.
  • Competence in data analysis and technical reporting.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier sites and to work in shop-floor environments.
