About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Production Technician (IMU) to support the assembly, testing, inspection, and reporting of sophisticated Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) products. This role is responsible for ensuring all manufacturing and testing activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safety requirements.
The successful candidate will contribute to production operations, support continuous improvement initiatives, and work closely with senior technicians, engineering, and quality teams to ensure delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, test, and inspect IMU and prototype IMU products in accordance with approved SOPs and work instructions.
- Perform precision mechanical and electronic assembly using hand tools and light machining equipment.
- Conduct kitting activities and maintain accurate build records throughout the production process.
- Perform routine testing activities and record test results accurately and consistently.
- Support fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair activities on products and test equipment.
- Follow all quality, safety, ESD, and production procedures to ensure product integrity and compliance.
- Assist with calibration activities and maintain associated calibration records.
- Support preventative and corrective maintenance of production equipment, tools, fixtures, and test systems.
- Maintain inventory levels and assist with consumable replenishment activities.
- Track production assets and maintain associated records.
- Monitor OEE, downtime, yield, and other production metrics, escalating issues when required.
- Support the development and improvement of assembly and test documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
- Assist with fixture design, development, and implementation activities.
- Participate in Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with 5S principles and HSE requirements.
Requirements
Education
- Advanced Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 4/5, or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 2 years' experience in a production environment utilizing Motion Simulators or other high-precision test equipment.
- Experience performing assembly, testing, and inspection activities in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience following SOPs, work instructions, and quality-controlled processes.
- Familiarity with ESD-controlled environments and precision assembly techniques.
