Radar Modelling & Simulation Engineer - EMIRATI Talent
Apply now »Date: 13 Oct 2025
Location: Abu Dhabi, AE
Company: EDGE Group PJSC
About the Role
The engineer will develop and validate models of radar systems, RF propagation, and radar cross section (RCS) to support design, performance assessment, and algorithm development. The role emphasizes hands on system-level modeling, scripting, simulation verification, and collaboration with system engineers and test teams.
This role is part of the EDGE IGNITE PROGRAM.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and validate mathematical and simulation models of radar systems and subsystems (transmit/receive chains, waveforms, signal processing).
- Model RF propagation effects (free space, multipath, ducting, clutter, atmospheric attenuation) for scenario-based analysis.
- Create and analyze RCS models for targets using CEM tools and simplified analytical/empirical approaches.
- Build and run end to end system simulations to evaluate detection, tracking, jamming susceptibility, and EW countermeasure performance.
- Write, test and maintain simulation code and scripts in Matlab, Python and/or Julia.
- Use CEM software (e.g., HFSS, CST, FEKO, WIPL D or similar) to perform RCS and antenna pattern simulations; process and integrate results into system models.
- Validate models against measurements and test data; perform sensitivity and uncertainty analyses.
- Produce concise technical reports, plots and presentation materials for engineering review and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or Statistics.
- Practical experience or coursework using Matlab and Python;
- Basic exposure to computational electromagnetic (CEM) tools for RCS/antenna simulation (academic projects, internships or coursework).
- Good programming practices: scripting, data visualization, numerical methods, and debugging.
- Analytical mindset, problem-solving ability, and attention to numerical/experimental validation.
