The Role

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Aerodynamics Engineer to lead and mentor within our advanced aerospace engineering team. In this role, you will take ownership of aerodynamic strategy, driving the design, analysis, and optimization of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across the full development lifecycle. You will guide complex aerodynamic initiatives, ensure technical excellence, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver solutions that meet demanding performance and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead aerodynamic design, analysis, and optimization of UAVs, overseeing both conceptual and detailed phases.
  • Apply and enhance aerodynamic analysis methods, developing new tools and methodologies where needed.
  • Oversee aerodynamic database development from CFD, wind tunnel tests, and empirical sources.
  • Direct and validate CFD simulations, ensuring best practices and high-fidelity outcomes.
  • Plan and manage wind tunnel testing campaigns, including data interpretation and reporting.
  • Provide technical leadership to multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring aerodynamic considerations are integrated into hardware and design specifications.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical development and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage projects effectively, ensuring milestones, budgets, and deliverables are met.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, refining design processes and technical standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (PhD preferred).
  • Minimum of 05 - 07 years’ experience in aerodynamic design, optimization, and analysis within the aerospace industry.
  • Proven expertise in programming languages such as Python or Bash for automation and tool development.
  • Deep knowledge of aerodynamic principles, including Navier-Stokes, Reynolds, laminar and turbulent boundary layers.
  • Advanced proficiency in CFD methods: Vortex Lattice, Boundary Layer Methods, RANS, turbulence models (knowledge of Lattice Boltzmann, DDES, WMLES, and Blade Element Momentum Theory is a plus).
  • Strong background in aircraft sizing, design trade studies, and multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO).
  • In-depth familiarity with the full aircraft design lifecycle and regulatory frameworks (Part 23, Part 25, AEP 4671 preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing complex projects and mentoring technical teams.
  • Certifications in aerodynamic design, CFD, or optimization are advantageous.
