Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Dynamics and Aeroelasticity Engineer to join our team in the Unmanned Aerial Platforms industry. This role will be responsible for developing and analyzing finite element dynamic models, conducting aeroelastic and dynamic response studies, and supporting ground and flight testing campaigns. Our product portfolio includes UAVs ranging from a few kilograms to several tons, requiring expertise in both theoretical and applied dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze Finite Element dynamic models using Nastran and related pre/post-processing tools.
- Perform modal analysis, flutter analysis, dynamic response studies, and frequency-domain analyses.
- Collaborate for continuous improvement of company processes and methods.
- Conduct and support the planning, execution, and data analysis of Ground Vibration Tests (GVT), actuator impedance tests, and Flight Flutter Tests.
- Define instrumentation and scope for dynamic tests and ensure proper data acquisition and processing.
- Interpret test results and correlate them with analytical models to refine structural dynamic predictions.
- Collaborate closely with aerodynamics, structures, control systems, and flight test teams to ensure robust aircraft performance.
- Support troubleshooting and mitigation strategies for aeroelastic instabilities, structural vibrations, and unsteady loads.
- Elaborate technical reports.
- Keep up to date with emerging methodologies, tools, and best practices in dynamics and aeroelasticity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in structural dynamics, aeroelasticity, and vibration analysis.
- Expert proficiency with Nastran (Sol 103, 144, 145, 146, etc.) and pre/post-processing tools like Patran, APEX, HyperMesh, or similar.
- Strong understanding of structural dynamics, aeroelastic stability, flutter margins, and flight loads.
- Proficiency in data acquisition systems, signal processing, and test data interpretation.
- Familiarity with Matlab, Python, or similar tools for data analysis and model correlation.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in UAV design and testing.
- Knowledge of computational aeroelasticity and unsteady aerodynamics modeling.
- Knowledge of certification standards and regulations.
- Experience with ground and flight testing, including GVT, flutter tests, and impedance testing.
- Familiarity with flight control integration and dynamic loads certification standards.
