About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to play a key role in the development of advanced navigation solutions for mission-critical defence applications. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining embedded software that supports sophisticated navigation technologies, including GPS, INS, and sensor fusion-based systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software applications using C/C++ in real-time embedded environments.
- Develop software for advanced navigation systems, including GPS, INS, and multi-sensor fusion technologies.
- Integrate navigation algorithms with hardware platforms and sensor interfaces.
- Deliver high-quality, compliant software that meets technical requirements, coding standards, and configuration management practices.
- Develop, manage, and maintain software documentation, including requirements, architecture, design specifications, source code, and test cases.
- Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to software architecture, evaluation methodologies, and testing strategies.
- Apply sound software engineering principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Support software verification, validation, and certification activities, including compliance with industry standards such as DO-178C or equivalent.
- Utilize software configuration management tools and best practices to maintain code integrity and traceability.
- Develop and maintain software tools used within the engineering department.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, supporting skills development and project delivery.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of complex defence programs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and spoken English.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Formal training and demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ development.
- Experience with Jama requirements management software is advantageous.
- Experience supporting software certification to DO-178C or an equivalent regulated standard is highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of embedded software development experience using C/C++.
- Strong experience developing software in real-time operating system (RTOS) environments.
- Proven expertise across the full software development lifecycle, including:
- Requirements management
- Software architecture and design
- Implementation and coding
- Integration and testing
- Verification and validation
- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to complex software development projects within the defence, aerospace, or other safety-critical industries.
