ABOUT THE ROLE

The Solid Propulsion Engineer II supports the development, characterization, testing, and manufacturing of solid rocket propellants and associated energetic materials. The role contributes to propulsion development activities through laboratory testing, material assessment, process support, and technical analysis, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and quality requirements.

The position works closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams supporting the development and qualification of solid rocket propulsion systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Propellant Development

  • Support the development and evaluation of solid rocket propellant formulations.
  • Assist in the selection and assessment of energetic materials and additives.
  • Contribute to performance, safety, and manufacturability evaluations.
  • Support propulsion design and trade study activities.

Materials Characterization

  • Conduct laboratory testing and material characterization activities.
  • Analyze chemical, thermal, and mechanical properties of propellant materials.
  • Support ageing, compatibility, and environmental testing programs.
  • Maintain accurate test records and documentation.

Manufacturing Support

  • Support propellant processing, mixing, casting, and curing activities.
  • Assist in monitoring manufacturing quality and process consistency.
  • Support investigations related to manufacturing or quality issues.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Testing & Analysis

  • Support development and qualification test campaigns.
  • Analyze test results and prepare technical reports.
  • Participate in failure investigations and root-cause analysis activities.
  • Contribute to verification and validation activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development of engineering procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging materials, technologies, and industry developments.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering, testing, quality, and manufacturing teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s/Masters/PhD degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience in chemical processing, materials engineering, energetic materials, aerospace, defense, or related industries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with laboratory testing, materials characterization, or manufacturing processes is desirable.
  • Experience with energetic materials or solid rocket propellants is considered an advantage.
