ABOUT THE ROLE
- Provide supervision to all assigned Technician(s) in support of the accomplishment of the manufacturing and maintenance mission.
- Develop heat treatment cycles and work instructions for parts/ components manufactured through casting, welding, machining, forging etc for performing various heat treatment processes such as Hardening (surface, through), Tempering, Annealing, Normalizing, Stress relieving, Solution treatment etc.
- Analyse casting defects related to heat treatment such as cracking, distortion, and hardness variation etc.
- Coordinate with foundry teams to improve casting quality and metallurgical performance analyse samples including preparation and imaging inspection.
- Define and monitor Preheating requirements, Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT), stress relieving procedures and ensure welded components meet mechanical and metallurgical specifications.
- Support welding qualification activities and procedure development.
- Coordinate heat treatment requirements before and after machining operations to minimize distortion and dimensional changes during thermal processing and to improve machinability and reduce tool wear.
- Assist in operating and monitoring heat treatment process and related equipment including Induction hardening machine by controlling furnace temperatures, soaking times, cooling rates, and quenching methods etc.
- Conduct hardness testing and interpret metallurgical test results, review microstructure and mechanical property reports.
- Assist in foundry operations and various casting processes i.e. sand mold casting, die casting, pattern making, mold preparation, melting, pouring etc.
- Analyse samples including preparation and imaging inspection.
- Organise work to ensure accomplishment of associated tasks including sample analysis.
- Learn, understand and comply with applicable contractual obligations and established AL TAIF Quality and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Assist failure investigation/analysis engineers in developing new defect analysis methodologies as required to continuously improve process quality.
- Develop expertise in a wide variety of failure analysis and material testing laboratory techniques and skills.
- Safely operate and maintain failure analysis equipment and complete the required analytical procedures.
- Follow written failure analysis plans and perform failure analysis as directed.
- Work effectively with other technicians as a team, and communicate with both technicians and engineers on failure analysis results.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
- Support other members of the Engineering Department in fulfilling their roles.
- Perform other duties as required by their line manager and Director, Engineering.
- Required to report Engineering Department operational risks and follow AL TAIF approved procedures for risks
- Ensure Engineering Department staff are informed about risk management procedure and have received appropriate basic risk training related to ISO31000:2018 Risks Management, and ISO 45001 Occupational Health.
- Implement and Monitor Mitigating Measures of Risk Treatment.
