External Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge of material properties (carbon steel, stainless, aluminium, titanium, etc.) and how welding affects them.
• Ability to develop, review and qualify welding procedures according to codes and standards.
• Familiarity with NDT methods Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Visual Testing and their acceptance criteria.
• Ensure documentation and traceability for all welding activities are compliant.
• Supervise welders and ensure qualifications remain valid.
• Coordinate with engineering, QA/QC and production teams to resolve welding issues.
• Optimize welding parameters to improve quality and reduce cost/time.
• Maintain proper WPS and PQR control on the shop floor.
• Maintain welding logs, inspection reports and consumable control records.
• Participate in weld audits and quality reviews.
• Communication with engineers, inspectors and management.

Qualifications and Skills

• Certificate or diploma in Welding Technology or equivalent.
• Certified welder/CWI certification issued from AWS

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the relevant field.
• Deep understanding of all major welding methods; MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW, SAW, Laser Welding, Brazing Micro Laser Welding, etc.
