Job Summary:

 

Technician (PCB) is responsible for the assembly and testing of an in-house produced section of the PCB line including correct machine set-ups, First Off Product sign off and running of production volumes. In addition to this, the PCB Technician also identifies and repairs failures and defects in assemblies and components, conducts routine preventive maintenance of equipment and compiles and documents records.

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

 

  • ­­­­­Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings and work instructions to identify different components and materials required for the assembly process.
  • Test the printed circuit board with appropriate testing devices to ensure optimal efficiency, functionality, and that everything works according to design
  • Programme and operate PCB assembly equipment including Stencil Printers, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick and Place, Reflow Ovens, Selective Soldering Equipment, and Conformal Coating Equipment to run production volume ensuring maximum output and minimal quality issues
  • Manage inventory and replenishment of supplies while the Work Order is in process
  • Ensure that the assembled products conform to specifications; compare finished products to Customer BoM for accuracy in terms of components used, board population, electronic assembly, etc.
  • Inspect PCB Electronic Assemblies for defects; solder quality, parts alignment, missing parts, visual damage, etc.
  • Conduct in-circuit test (ICT) for shorts, resistance, and capacitance to assess whether the printed circuit boards (PCB) were correctly manufactured
  • Analyse and repair failures, component failures and manufacturing defects using light tools, hand tools, and electronic test and repair equipment
  • Conduct component level repair of PCBs to include soldering and de-soldering of through-hole and SMT components tasks in compliance with IPC Class III soldering standards
  • Send equipment that didn't pass inspection back to the assembly line for re-assembly
  • Carry out routine corrective and preventive maintenance of PCBs to ensure it is safe and efficient to operate at all times and produces maximum output
  • Maintain logs and records type and quantity of defective circuit boards and document PCB design and assembly procedures
  • Maintain clean and organized assembly work stations based on 5S principles
  • Comply with appropriate safety protocols and company policies at all times

 

 

Experience & Education Qualifications:

Expertise: 

 

Minimum:  3 years of hands-on experience in an electronic PCB assembly line working manually or on Automated SMD machines

 

Preferred:

    • Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
    •  Working knowledge of Class 3 Electronics Manufacturing requirements.
    • Previous experience in operating Pick n Place SMT stations, SPI, AOI, X-RAY, Flying Probe

 

 

Minimum Qualification:

 

Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Certified as PCB Technician, Certification per IPC/J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610
