Job Summary:

The Test Facility Design Technician will support the design, development, and optimization of gas turbine test facilities, focusing on jigs, brackets, tooling, and mounting systems. This role involves collaborating with engineers and technicians to ensure structural integrity, safety, and efficiency in test setups. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CAD software, design principles, and troubleshooting mechanical challenges in a test facility environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

  • Quickly create and modify design drawings for facility jigs, brackets, and ad-hoc tooling for engine testing, mounting, and fixing.

  • Assist in developing protocols for the testing and commissioning of turbine systems and facility equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure design integrity and functionality.
  • Document design-related adjustments made during testing, providing feedback for future improvements.

Technical Support for Project Development:

  • Work with technicians and engineers to develop innovative design solutions for tooling and structural fixes.

  • Support the development and review of changes, enhancements, and modifications to test facility infrastructure.
  • Assist in feasibility studies to validate the practicality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of proposed designs.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct quality checks on designs to ensure they meet technical specifications and safety standards.

  • Maintain adherence to quality control protocols, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance in all designs.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all designs comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., emissions, noise control).

  • Integrate safety considerations into designs, including ventilation, containment, and emergency access.
  • Proactively address potential risks and incorporate fail-safe mechanisms in design solutions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience in applying the latest design techniques in a test facility or industrial environment.
  • Strong background in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience in designing and modifying tooling, brackets, and mounting systems.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to quickly design fixes for issues arising during build, installation, and testing.

Technical Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of the latest design and CAD packages.
  • High level of accuracy in design with great attention to detail.
  • Understanding of mechanical structures, stress analysis, and material selection.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
