Job Summary:

Provide a Development strategy for the combustion work group in Design and Support capability for Propulsion in Halcon Systems. Reporting to the Director of Air Propulsion, executing specialized engineering tasks related to key areas in the functional air breathing engine system.

Key Accountabilities:

Air Power Systems Development:

• Provide an in-house project management and systems engineering capability to support the propulsion development programs of the Air Power Department specifically in the field of gas turbine propulsion systems
• Undertake design and support work throughout the life-cycle of the system under development, for all phases of conceptual design, preliminary design, detail design and development, manufacture, production, end-use support and phase-out/disposal
• Perform precise engineering calculations using theoretical methods as well as computational simulations using an overhauled version of the existing design methodology.

Project Management:

• Work with suppliers to produce high precision and quality designed components within the schedule of the project.
• Organization of engineering arrangements to meet the objectives of the department.

Innovation and Technology Advancement:

• Revise designs based on the latest technology in manufacturing and material science.
• Optimization of designed parts for manufacturability using innovative approaches to design

Collaboration and Communication:

• Lead, mentor and coach lower level engineers in related disciplines.

Compliance and Documentation:

• Establish test specifications and procedures to ensure that all design requirements are met

Experience & Education Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field. A PH.D degree is preferred in the field of gas turbine combustion or other gas turbine/thermal power applications with at least 12 years’ experience.
• Experience in a similar field, with a focus on combustion for gas turbines.
• Proven technical competence, including managing multidisciplinary requirements specifications within the gas turbine engine related to combustion and fuel systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of air power systems, including aircraft integration, propulsion, avionics, and mission systems.
• Familiarity with military and defense industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Ability to contribute to and write technical proposals development.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to precision-guided munition air power systems.
