Range Services Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Range Services Technician is responsible for supporting the setup, maintenance, and operation of test range facilities and services at Abu Al Abyad Test Range. The role plays a key part in ensuring test activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational and customer requirements.

Working closely with engineers, clients, Range Conducting Officers (RCOs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), contractors, and internal teams, the successful candidate will support test range operations, deploy equipment and infrastructure, maintain facilities, and provide technical field support for a wide range of testing activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare test sites by setting up equipment, barriers, targets, and supporting infrastructure.
• Support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of testing equipment and systems.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of test range facilities and equipment.
• Coordinate with Operations, RCOs, and SMEs to ensure client-booked infrastructure and services are available and operational.
• Provide technical support for temporary installations, targetry, and ad-hoc mechanical or electrical works.
• Support clients with field services including hygiene facilities, air conditioning, power, and water requirements.
• Operate a variety of equipment, vehicles, and support systems as required.
• Assist with test activities and ensure all supporting services are delivered effectively.
• Record operational data and observations accurately during testing activities.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations, operational procedures, and best practices.
• Maintain documentation relating to targets, facilities, equipment, and support services.
• Maintain records of support equipment, condition assessments, maintenance requirements, and upgrades.
• Assist with technical reporting and operational summaries.
• Work closely with engineers, clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to support successful test execution.
• Manage inventory of equipment, tools, consumables, and spare parts.
• Support procurement and replacement of equipment and materials when required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical, field services, testing, maintenance, or operational support role.
• Associate Degree or technical qualification in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Valid UAE driving licence.
• Experience operating and maintaining technical equipment, machinery, or support systems.
• Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair capability.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices within operational or testing environments.
• Awareness of health and safety risk assessment processes.
• Awareness of military equipment and defence-related operations.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, procedures, and standard operating processes.
• Physically fit and able to work in challenging outdoor environments.
• Ability to operate multiple types of vehicles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant certifications in safety, testing, maintenance, or operational procedures.
• Arabic language skills.
• Experience operating plant, machinery, or heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of land, sea, and air defence equipment.
• Knowledge of military and defence operations.
• Experience supporting test range, field services, military, defence, engineering, or industrial operations.
